Marion Scoular will be coming to the Dogwood Chapter!
 

 

The seminar will be held on Oct 23 and 24 at Myers Park United Methodist Church at the intersection of Providence and Queens .

The two-day class will feature a Hemstitching Band Sampler.

Bands of hemstitching, progressing from easy to complex will be worked, leaving space for two bands of double-running embroidery.  The picot edge will be practiced on a doodle piece and can later be worked on the sampler. 

The cost of the kit will be $30 for members.

1999 Lifetime Achievement Award: Marion Scoular

The Board of Directors of the Academy is pleased to announce the 1999 recipient of its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. This year's honoree is Marion Scoular of Atlanta Georgia.

Marion is a 3-year, Mark Excellent, Graduate of the Royal School of Needlework in London, England and is a City and Guilds Silver Medallist. After teaching dressmaking in English high schools for 3 years Marion moved to Clemson, South Carolina with her family and opened the Robin Hood Wool Shop, which she owned for 13 years. She also taught adult education for Clemson University. In 1986 she moved to Atlanta.

Marion has judged, lectured, and taught workshops in 38 states, and in Canada, Mexico, and Australia for every major needlework organization. She has been featured on public and commercial television, and has produced an instructional video on basic canvaswork.

She has authored three booklets on embroidery techniques which are published by the American School of Needlework, and has also written a series of articles for The Creative Needle. Marion has 2 self-published books on counted thread embroidery, Why Call it Blackwork and Hardanger Embroidery. She is also a frequent contributor to the periodic magazines of various needlework organizations here in the United States. In addition Marion has led embroidery tours to Britain and Europe.
